I am an educator living in Edenton, NC with my husband of 31 years and our 26 year old daughter. I enjoy spending time with my family, boating, biking and learning about the latest technology from my professional learning networks. I have been in education since 1989. I began as a teacher assistant while attending college on nights and weekends. After receiving my BS in Elementary Education in May of 1996, I received a job teaching 2nd grade in my hometown of Edenton. I taught second grade for 4 years, K-2 multi-age for 3 years, and a 1st and 2nd grade multi-age for half a year. I became a candidate for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards during my third year as a K-2 multi-age teacher. I completed the process and achieved the honor of NBCT. After achieving this goal I accepted an offer from The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction as an Educator on Loan with the Instructional Technology Division. I was one of four teachers across the state chosen for this position. NCDPI's vision was that we modeled the IMPACT Model as we visited schools in North Carolina providing staff development in the area of technology integration. I found this to be a very rewarding experience as I continued to impact student's learning across the state. At the same time, I met and learned from so many wonderful educators in our state. It was a great professional development for me. I continue to be a life-long learner and am always seeking ways to learn more that will help me be more productive at work. I have attended and presented at all the state technology conferences. I am a Senior Trainer for Intel and I continue to offer staff development to schools across our state. This year I am back in Edenton-Chowan Schools serving as a Technology Facilitator at our 3rd through 5th grade school. This has been a wonderful year as I have brought back my experiences learned across the state and have implemented many of them into our curriculum.
